PC 335 Leslie McCappin was appointed to Hampshire Constabulary on the 12th February 1937, and after an initial period of training at Police headquarters, he was posted to Gosport.
17th February 1940 - PC 335 L. McCappin Gosport to Overton. This was a temporary move along with other officers; P.C. 295 Ralph Ruts, P.C. 142 Arthur Diddams, P.C.462 Dudley Wilson, P.C.170 Harold Bennett, P.C.139 Ron Goodall.
PC Wilson was killed later in the war whilst in the RAF.
22nd May 1940 PC 335 L. McCappin Overton to Wickham
Died 14th November 1940 at 52 Wickham Road, Fareham.
The Hampshire Constabulary General Orders for the 18th of November 1940 read "PC 335 L. McCappin - The Chief Constable regrets to announce the death of the above named officer a as result of injuries sustained through being hit by an army vehicle when on duty at Wickham on the night of 13/14th of November."
