He died in a Wellington bomber which was on a training flight near Leeming and crashed killing all the crew. Eye witnesses say that a wing of the plane broke off, causing the crash.

March 5th 1943. Funeral arrangements have been made for the training accident victims. The crew was near the end of their tour and well liked. They will be sadly missed.
